Serving Lincoln County, Action for Animals Maine is committed to providing crucial one-time financial assistance for pet emergency healthcare. We offer direct aid to approved applicants’ veterinarians, covering procedures, hospitalization, medication, follow-ups, and emergency services to ensure pets’ full recovery.

Criteria for Acceptance

Action for Animals Maine does NOT cover:

  • Treatment that has already been done
  • Preventative costs, including spaying and neutering
  • Initial medical examinations, procedures, medication, and vaccinations for new pets to the home
  • Annual routine tests by a veterinarian
  • Over-the-counter animal healthcare products
  • Animal insurance

Please refer to this list for resources that may help you with the services and procedures listed above.

  1. Action for Animals Maine may contribute financial assistance of up to $500 once during the life time of the animal to approved applicants to help pay for emergency procedures, hospitalization, medication, or veterinary follow-up to extend the lives of pets. Action for Animals only provides assistance for emergency treatment of cats and dogs.
  2. Action for Animals Maine will verify all treatment and costs with the attending veterinarians. Payment will ONLY be made directly to the veterinarian or animal hospital to cover approved specific care to that particular animal on a particular date/time.
  3. Action for Animals Maine requires receipts of all expenses paid by this foundation from the attending veterinarian or animal hospital. It is the client’s due diligence to ensure the attending veterinarian or animal hospital forward a copy of these expenses to Action for Animals Maine.
